Trust, Safety & Legal

The rules that keep StoryForge safe for readers and sustainable for authors.

Privacy Policy

1. Data we collect

Account data: email, username, password hash, avatar, and bio. Content: stories, chapters, posts, and comments you publish. Transactions: coin purchases, subscriptions, and payout details (processed by our payment providers — we never store full card numbers). Usage data: reading progress, device information, and diagnostics.

2. How we use data

We use your data to operate the service, personalize recommendations, process payments and payouts, prevent fraud and abuse, and communicate with you about your account, new chapters from followed authors, and policy changes.

3. Sharing

We share data only as needed: with payment processors to complete purchases and payouts, with infrastructure providers that host the service, and when required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies & sessions

We use essential cookies and local storage for sign-in sessions, language and theme preferences, and security (such as two-factor authentication). You can clear site data in your browser, but core features require an active session.

5. Retention & security

We retain account and transaction records for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, tax, and anti-fraud purposes. We protect data with encryption in transit, hashed credentials, and limited internal access.

6. Your rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your personal data from Settings, or by contacting support. Deleting your account removes your profile and drafts; published works may be retained in anonymized or withdrawn form to preserve reader libraries and comply with legal obligations.

7. Children

StoryForge is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). Accounts found to belong to underage users will be removed.

8. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact us through Settings → Support and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
